Your PBS is a site dedicated to families and organisations that support someone who displays Challenging Behaviour. We provide an online facility to analyse challenging behaviour based on a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) model. PBS is an evidence-based approach to behaviour change and one that currently represents our most ethical and well-researched method for supporting people with challenging needs. YourPBS aims to bring PBS within the reach of all and it does this by providing a 3 step program of on-line PBS tools: Step 1: BAI (BAI Behavioural Assessment Interview) | | The BAI acts as a 'virtual psychologist', supporting you to gather assessment information that will help to build a picture of why the challenging behaviours that you are concerned about are happening. Completion of the BAI is the first step in developing an individualised PBS intervention plan for a person. |
Step 2: Behaviour Monitoring Form (BMF) The next stage in robust behavioural assessment involves collecting direct observational data of behaviour. An individualised recording form will be constructed by YourPBS on the basis of your responses to the BAI, which you can use to record the circumstances around episodes of challenging behaviour when they occur. | |
Step 3: The PBS Intervention Toolkit Once you are clear about the reasons why the behaviours of concern are occurring, you can access the PBS Intervention Toolkit. This toolkit (still under development, estimated 6 months time) will help you to decide what kind of intervention you might need to put in place to both prevent and manage the challenging behaviours and takes you through some mini-tutorials that provide you with practical suggestions about implementing each type of intervention. |
